Employment

Senior Race Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Race Engineer to join our elite NASCAR team. The ideal candidate will possess advanced knowledge in vehicle dynamics, suspension systems, aerodynamics, and tire behavior to optimize vehicle performance and ensure a competitive edge on the track. This role will require a deep understanding of race car engineering principles and the ability to lead and collaborate within a high-performance team environment. This role will be predominantly a non-travel position working out of our race team headquarters, but may require limited travel to track tests, our remote testing facility or a few select race events

Please submit resume below.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and refinement of vehicle dynamics models, including suspension, chassis, aerodynamics, and tire interactions to maximize vehicle performance on track.
  • Utilize data acquisition and analysis tools to evaluate vehicle behavior and recommend setup changes based on race conditions, track characteristics, and driver feedback.
  • Collaborate with the engineering, aerodynamics, and tire teams to integrate performance improvements across all aspects of the race car.
Conduct track testing, including analysis of data from various sensors (e.g., suspension, tire temperatures, shock travel) to optimize vehicle setup for different race tracks and conditions.
  • Work closely with the driver to understand feedback and translate it into engineering solutions that improve handling, stability, and overall performance.
  • Lead simulations and predictive modeling to anticipate the effects of setup changes before testing.
  • Contribute to the development of new technologies and techniques for enhancing vehicle dynamics.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers and technical staff, fostering a collaborative and high performance work environment.
Stay up-to-date with NASCAR regulations, technological advancements, and industry trends to maintain competitive performance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in motorsports vehicle dynamics, ideally with a focus on stock car racing or a similar racing discipline.
  • In-depth understanding of vehicle dynamics principles, including suspension design, handling analysis, aerodynamics, tire mechanics, and vehicle simulation.
  • Proficiency with simulation and analysis software (e.g., MATLAB, Simulink, Adams, or similar tools).
  • Strong experience with data acquisition systems and performance analysis tools.
  • Hands-on experience in track testing, including data collection, vehicle setup, and driver feedback interpretation.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with tight deadlines and the capacity for quick problem-solving.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
  • A passion for motorsports, particularly NASCAR, and a strong desire to push the boundaries of vehicle performance.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) and aerodynamic analysis.
  • Familiarity with NASCAR-specific rules, car setup, and racing conditions.
Previous experience in leadership or mentorship role.
  • Knowledge of advanced vehicle simulation techniques and tire modeling.
